Negative Space..................Prompt #21

Well its that time again, time for a new prompt!! First of all I want to say thank you to all of you who joined in the last prompt, and a hello to all of our new followers.............."Hello"

We love to see that you guys are enjoying our challenges, and we also love meeting so creative, inspiring Type loving scrappers:)

Our next prompt is all about negative space! Many of us cram it all in, fill a page up from corner to corner. With this prompt we want you to use that negative space and let it flow, let it relax and chill out. Make a statement with your title, and just leave the rest be!

And now I would like to introduce our guest designer, Elisa!!!

"Hi! I'm Elisa, I'm 23 and I am half Eng
lish and half french.I live in the south of France with my boyfriend and my cat. I am quite shy and crafting is my way of expression. I love indie music, road trips, dresses, turquoise and powdery pink, vintage papers, dream worlds, musicals...Thanks girls for inviting me and like we say in France: Bon scrap !"

Here is Elisa's take on our "Negative Space" Prompt!

Be sure to check out Elisa's blog and see some more fabulous layouts and projects she has done.

Hey everyone, I've been meaning to post this for ages, but being the scatterbrain that I am, I kept forgetting! Well anyway, for those of you that haven't seen it already, Kelly Purkey has been doing a great free class over the past month at Two Peas in a Bucket called 'Fun With Type'. As soon as I saw the first class, I knew it'd be perfect to share with all our lovely blog readers. Kelly certainly does rock the type!! Go here, here, here and here to check out the four classes.

Quickie update! and a winner!

Through way of voting we have come up with a winner of prompt # 20 " Masking"

Ami Lapi's "I see you" is our winner this round. We all agreed that this was a very difficult one to vote on, because there really were so many wonderful masking layouts done. You guys seriously rocked this challenge, and I know it was a tough one, but one that most of us will probably keep on using in our projects. Lots of fun.

So Ami, be sure to email me at Thecreativetype@Hotmail.com with your mailing address that way I can pass it on to our sponsor, and also that way we can also discuss your Guest designer spot that you won as well!!!!

We will be posting the new prompt # 21 tomorrow, Tuesday the 27Th!
Sorry for the delay, but sometimes colds and mishaps get in the way:) You know what I mean??

A Type inspired Halloween deocration.

Hello! Well Halloween is just 6 days away and as it sneaks closer I am slowly getting things in order. Decorations always are the icing on the cake, they really help to bring the spirit of any holiday alive!

On Wed I will be over our friend's house who is throwing a Halloween party and we will be busily cutting out bats! Handmade decorations always seem more special in my opinion.

Recently one of our Typist's, Kent came across this very typography inspired pumpkin that someone made at a store she was in. Of course we had to share, come on, it is covered in type:)

Love it!

Be back tomorrow for a winner from prompt #20, a new prompt and tons of inspiration!!

Prompt # 20 "Masking"

Hello, hello!! We are finally back and ready to bring you many more Typography inspired challenges. Yesterday we introduced you to the new team members and today we are throwing a new prompt straight at you. I am glad to see that many of you have been awaiting our return, so lets get started.

For our first prompt back we challenge you to use masking as a technique when it comes to the type in your layout. So whether you mask out your title or even if your really brave, all of your journaling , go for it and have fun.

Masking is pretty much the reverse of say stenciling. Get out all of those old sticker letters you have that you just cant seem to find a good use for, grab some paint, ink, markers or even glimmer mist and get masking.

*One tip you may find useful when using sticker letters, is to mellow out that stickiness a little bit before placing it on the paper and getting it ready to use as a mask. Some of us Typists found that we were ripping up our paper which didn't lead to great results, so just take your sticker letters and stick them on a paper towel a few times until your stickiness is less intense. Believe me it will save your paper and your layout.*

To kick off our first prompt back, we brought in a super talented, fun, sweet, adorable guest designer named Jennifer Tucker. And well I will just let her introduce herself!!

"I am a mom, wife, friend, scrapper, happy, sarcastic, fun.
likes rascal Flatts, beer bellies, forever21, tattoos, dirty jokes, scary movies, coke, glee, cool ranch Doritos, watching sports, doing laundry, popping her toes, Maggie Gylenhall, frozen grapes, laughing, bad words, and sushi
does NOT like chocolate, the Dallas cowboys, cleaning the bathtub, fake people, stupidity, chipped nail polish, stuff that matches, fittin in, summertime, Megan fox, 6 packs and muscles, Cajun food, and the American league."

Here is what Jennifer came up with while using Masking as a technique.

Thank you Jennifer for playing along with us! We hope to see you again maybe a few prompts down the road.

We are adding to the family.

Well, over the past year of The Creative Type's existence we have had such a great team of girls. Some have gone and a few have come.

This fall we have decided to add some fresh new faces to the group.

Each one of them have a unique style of scrapping as well as just creating in general. I feel that they will fit in perfectly with our original girls and help inspire each and everyone of you even more!

So before we launch our first prompt, let me introduce you to our 4 new Typists.

Hello Hello! I am so excited to be a part of this fabulous team. I am smack in the middle of my twenties with a great family, awesome friends, and an incredible new boyfriend. I live in south central Pennsylvania in a city that is rebuilding itself and I have grown to love. I am trying to open my own coffee shop and I have been scrapping for 2.5 years. I find even the smallest things inspiring (especially after a glass of wine or two)! Here is a website that I always find inspiring We love Typography it has pages and pages of posters and such with fabulous types and fonts!
(visit Vanessa at her blog.)

Hi, I'm Danielle. I am so excited to be part of the Creative Type, all designers are so talented! I love all arts-n-crafts, photography, travel, thrift stores, boots with dresses, music, iced chai lattes, hoola hooping, collecting milk glass and matryoshkas, cooking and hanging out with my friends and family. I have two super daughters, a beefcake for a husband, 2 dogs (Frida and Violet) and live in Mexico City most of the t
ime right now, but also in Philadelphia. I have a blog here Cococricketmama if you want to stop by and say hi.

I'm a student for life with a wide open mind and too many questions. I find it necessary to spend time spilling myself all over paper and getting all kinds of messy in the pursuit of being creative. If I could eat caramel apples and marshmallows at the end of every day I truly would. I believe that good cries, hard laughter and rainy days can be some of the best therapy. My feet are always dirty, my hair is always clean and I am too silly when I should be serious. I couldn't be happier to be here with such fantastic ideas and so many creative people!
(visit Dani at her blog as well.)

Hi My Name is Cynthia and I am beyond thrilled to be a new typist @ the creative type!!!!! here is a few randoms about me: I live in Minn. I wear red lipstick nearly everyday. I have obsessive compulsive issues with AMC's Mad Men and Kraft paper. I love white space on scrapbook pages. I update my blog it least three times a week. My favorite fonts are Royal typewriter, V typewriter and Fling (the blueprint magazine font). And I go to House Industries weekly to type drool. Last but not least I drink Starbucks Ice Coffee all year around:)
(stop on over at Cynthia's blog and say hello)

Be back on Monday to see what we have cooling for prompt #20.
